Town Hall Meeting Hosted by Springfield Council of PTAs

. Posted in MOPTA News

The Springfield Council PTA recently hosted a Legislative Town Hall Meeting to bring together parents, educators, and State and Federal Representatives to discuss education initiatives in Missouri.

State Representative Charlie Denison attended the meeting, and Cory Dukes, a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, participated in the discussion by phone.

"This is a time when a lot of belt-tightening is going on," said Dukes, who works in the Washington, D.C., office. "The belt-tightening can't come at the expense of our children."

Rep. Denison said there is a push to permit open enrollment during this session. "You want to stay in-tune with your legislators, with me", said Denison.  "It's a critical year coming up for education."
