PTA Calls for Updated National Nutrition Standards

On March 31st, PTA National CEO Byron V. Garrett testified before a U.S. Senate Committee for a hearing titled, "Beyond Federal School Meal Programs: Reforming Nutrition for Kids in Schools."

The hearing featured a panel of representatives from child health and education organizations and the food and beverage industry. Garrett cited several legislative efforts that PTA has championed over the decades and noted PTA's involvement in successfully including language for local school wellness policies in the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004.
